New Year Resolution Planner
Three resolutions at most, each with a floor for bad days. Print it, sign it, tell someone.
Year
Your resolutions (up to 3)
Three at most. One is fine. Ten is a wish list.
Not sure what to pick? Take the four-question resolution quiz. Nothing on this page is saved or sent anywhere.
Built to survive February
The rules. I step on the floor every day. Some days I burst through the ceiling. A missed day is a missed day, nothing more; the next day is a fresh one. The only way to break a resolution is to quit quietly, so I am telling .

How to fill in the resolution planner
Pick the year, then write up to three resolutions. Start from a common one if you want the fields filled in as an example.
Who I am becoming is the why. Read 20 books is a target; a reader again is a person. The person is what gets you out of bed in March.
The floor is the smallest version that still fully counts, the thing you can do on your worst day. The ceiling is the best-day version. When and where is the cue that makes the floor automatic.
Name the people you are telling, print it, sign it, and put it where you will see it in February. Tick the checkpoints as the year goes.
Why most resolutions die and this sheet does not
Most resolutions are written as the ceiling: run every day, no sugar, read 50 books. The first bad week breaks the ceiling and there is no floor to land on, so people quit.
A resolution with a floor cannot be broken by a bad day. One page still counts. A 10 minute walk still counts. The streak survives, the identity survives, and the ceiling is still there for good days.
The other half is people. Telling someone, and better still checking in with them daily, is the cheapest resolution insurance we know of. It is why Habit Huddle exists.
Questions people ask
How many New Year resolutions should I make?
One to three. Every resolution you add lowers the odds on the others, because attention and willpower do not multiply. The sheet stops at three on purpose. If you only fill one line, that is a strong sheet.
What is the floor on a resolution?
The smallest version of the resolution that still fully counts: one page instead of a chapter, a 10 minute walk instead of the gym. Bad days get the floor and the resolution stays alive. Ceilings are for good days. Resolutions written only as ceilings break in the first rough week.
When should I write next year's resolutions?
Any time after the November slump is honest. Writing them in December gives you a few weeks to set up the cue and tell people, so January 1 is a start date instead of a planning day. You can also set the habit up in Habit Huddle now and choose Jan 1 as its start date.
What are the checkpoint boxes for?
Feb 1 is where most resolutions have already died, so ticking it is the first real win. The quarterly boxes give you four more moments to notice you are still going, or to lower the floor and keep going. Dec 31 is the one to photograph.
