Why I built Habit Huddle

Habit Huddle started as a simple group chat with about 8 friends and $100 bucks on the line each. If you missed your checkin you lost your money... turns out that was a bad idea!

I was annoyed that I had to check every day to see if people had done their checkins, so naturally as a software developer I started working on a bot that could do it for me.

As I had just put the finishing touches on the first version of Habit Huddle, my wife tapped me on the shoulder and said "it's time to go". Shortly after I was holding my first son.

As I write these words now my wife is upstairs and I'm expecting her to tap me on the shoulder any minute and tell me it's time to go meet my second son.

I hope this project inspires my kids one day.

The journey

What I believe

The three virtues

Strength, knowledge, and love are the three fundamental virtues. Every other virtue derives from one of them. Each one splits into two branches.

๐Ÿ’ช

Strength

Physical Mental
๐Ÿง

Knowledge

Theory Applied
โค๏ธ

Love

For self For others

None of the three can be bought. They can only be earned, which makes them the most valuable things a person can obtain.

The work of a life is figuring out how to balance them.

Habit Huddle's six habit categories are these six branches. Health and Mind, Theory and Skills, Self and Social. Every habit in the app earns one of them.

๐Ÿงพ

Receipts, not theory

Real streaks in the hundreds of days, real rentals, real rank. Your listeners hear what worked from someone still doing it every morning, not a summary of someone else's book.

๐ŸŽฌ

I know how to make content

150+ YouTube tutorials and five years streaming on Twitch. I show up prepared, I talk in clips, and I post one short video a day. It is one of the habits above.

๐Ÿ“ฃ

Your episode gets shared

To the Habit Huddle community on Discord, to my channels, and clipped for short form. My channels are still growing, so I will not pretend they are the reason to book me. The conversation is.

Short bio

Stevan Ljuljdurovic is a former university athlete turned software business owner turned failed model turned semi-pro gamer turned founder. He found his life passion with Habit Huddle, a place where friends keep each other showing up for their habits. It's going better than the modeling.

Topics I can go deep on

  • โš–๏ธ

    The three virtues

Strength, knowledge, and love. Every other virtue derives from one of them, each splits in two, and none can be bought. How to earn all three and keep them in balance.

  • ๐Ÿชž

    Who you want to become

Everyone quotes the identity idea. Almost nobody explains why enjoying the process beats chasing the outcome, or how to set a habit up that way.

  • ๐Ÿชœ

    Floor and Ceiling

Every habit needs a floor small enough for your worst day and a ceiling worth chasing on your best one. Why "do the whole workout or nothing" quietly kills most habits.

  • ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Streaks, loss aversion, and the reset problem

Streaks work because losing one hurts. That same feeling is why people quit after a reset. How to keep the upside without the crash.

  • ๐Ÿ“œ

    Accountability contracts

Write the habit down, name the stakes, get a witness to sign. Why a promise on paper outperforms a promise in your head, when stakes backfire, and what I learned from building contracts into an app.

  • ๐Ÿ‘ฅ

Why habit groups die in week three

Most groups fall apart within weeks. It took years of iterations to learn what keeps one checking in for years instead.

  • โ›“๏ธ

    The Checkin Chain

Each member who checks in adds a link. Seasons reset the race. Why a group metric measured in links, not days, keeps a huddle fresh.

  • ๐Ÿ

Boring habits bought my rental properties

Rentals since 2012, starting by living in them. A dilapidated house fully renovated in 2016. None of it came from a big move. All of it came from small daily ones.

  • ๐ŸŽฎ

    10,000 hours in Dota 2

Immortal rank, five years streaming, 150+ tutorials. What competitive gaming teaches about deliberate practice, plateaus, and playing better when people are watching.

  • ๐Ÿ“š

Anything on the reading list above

Ten pages a day for years adds up. Happy to go deep on any of those books and how the ideas held up in practice.
